A Rainy View: A Short Poem

Happy Saturday, Friends. God is so good and powerful and knows all. I know this, but He still surprises me. I met Miss Gina Giordano Weeks on Instagram. Mention of tears drew us together to pray for each other and check in on each other. Don’t you ever wish you could meet every single person who touches your soul? I do. I am a face-to-face kind of person. Anyway, today’s poem is a team effort. Miss Gina posted this photo that inspired a poem. More about Miss Gina and Jesus at the end 😊

It’s so hard to see
Pouring, disappearing

Leaving murky

Tricks and sticks
Can break my bones

Between the streaks

A single
Lonely truth

Don’t wash
Into the stain

Step out of the rain
Of disillusionment

Be free
Bust open

Speak just
To me

The one searching,
Needing water

The living kind.

Matthew 7:24-25

Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.

Pondering when we cant see what’s ahead, when we long to know the specifics of His plans for us. Sometimes, it is the work of the enemy to blur our vision with lies and deceit. Sometimes, though, Our Jesus has purpose in limiting our knowledge of His plans for us. He may show us a tiny glimpse, calling us to stay true to Him while we wait for more information. If you have any thoughts, I would love to join you in conversation.

  1. Nice poem, Julie! Yes, the enemy has lies, some of them very appealing, but we must never forget the words of Jesus: “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me.”
