Missing His Work: A Poem

stationcrowdpic

“Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.” Colossians 4:5-6

We may miss His work
Unpaid and unplanned

How can this be?
Our Father in Heaven, His mighty sovereignty

Purposely places people in our path

To meet
To greet

To speak

truth

To shine
He who is mine

“That’s it?” we say as they walk away

It seems over and done

His presence fills
Our wonder spills

“Lest you not forget

I Am who will use

Your work, the mess

For it is I you honor and reflect.

Keep your eyes and heart open

Though you know not where you are going

Listen to whispers of my Spirit

Always heed

Exactly where you are

Being unto Me.”

  1. Julie, you have no idea how much I needed to read this today! I have been praying for guidance, for patience, for the best words to be spoken, to a friend of mine I have recently reconnected with. She has no faith and has just lost her daughter. She so needs to understand God and how he is there for us all. She is angry and doesn’t want anyone “shoving” God’s truths down her throat (as she puts it.) I feel God spoke to me through your poem-so through you, my friend. Thank you for your beautiful, truthful words.

    • Praise the Lord all day long! So incredibly thankful for how He works. Praying Spirit whispers what you need for your friend. His way is best. And back to that breakfast treat … Jen, seriously we need to nail down a time for coffee and a muffin!
