Child-Like Faith

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14 NIV).

Wide-eyed wonder.

Is it possible for adults to free their minds to go to Jesus any time for all reasons?

When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned like a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things (1 Corinthians 13:11 NLT).

Remember Paul used to be Saul, a man filled with vengeance (Acts 9:1). No need to explain when or how he put away childish things. However, Jesus transformed Paul into a man dedicated to ministry with unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, following ever so closely with a child-like heart (Acts 9:15-19-transformation and Acts 20:24-dedication in ministry).

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity (1 Corinthians 13:12 NLT).

Paul here is talking about eternity, when ALL things come clear and most things of earthly importance fall away.

We do not have to wait until Heaven to be like children in our faith.

“Such as these” Jesus said.

In His all-inclusive way, Jesus tells us anyone like children is welcome to come directly to Him. No age requirement, nobody too far gone.

Some of us find ourselves lacking in trust because of being hurt by love in the past. Trust then hides behind a rock-solid dam in our hearts.

By His power and grace, no dam is too solid, no barrier to trust too great.

Once the dam is broken, trust rushes in a glorious river, clear water, foaming and cresting with faith, hope and love (1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT).

May we strip all pretenses:

May we go to Jesus exactly how we are in our mess:

May we not fear but trust … lay down our burdens at His feet, snuggle in His arms just as little children do instinctively when they are tired:

May we free-fall into joy as we look forward to the work and wonder of Jesus in our lives:

What prevents you from trusting Jesus like a child? Is there any way I can approach His throne for you?
