I thank God for each of you.
It is with Him I write this blog and this letter to you.
I want to encourage you here to grow your faith in God.
It is a scary time, one in which death is looming in the form of a sneaky virus that doesn’t even always let you know you are sick.
I can remember how excited I was to learn God is Our Father in heaven who created us. I remember mostly about the first couple years of faith that I had someone to talk to. I struggled with loneliness and depression well into my 40’s. I didn’t believe God is real and true until age 40.
Praying to God helped me know without a doubt I would never be alone again.
So if you believe God is real and leave it at that … you are probably unaware of how He can change your life.
First, I need to introduce you to Jesus, the living Son of God. I didn’t know Him or what He did for me right away.
Unless you read one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John), which I hadn’t because I didn’t grow up knowing the Bible, you could not know the sacrifice and the love Jesus poured out for you.
So, Jesus, is the only way to the Father in heaven, and the only way to sharing eternity with God.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
Jesus came to save us. After many years of God’s people sacrificing animals to receive forgiveness of sins, Jesus died on the cross. In doing so, Jesus took every sin from every person … past, present and future.
Sins separate us from God (drunkenness, addiction of any kind, not caring for those who are hungry or needy, violence toward innocent people, sex outside of marriage … defined as between one man and one woman). God forgives all of us who believe in HIs Son because Jesus died to pay for all our sins. And Jesus rose again so we would have life with Him. Jesus, by the power of God, defeated death for good.
This is such Good News. I cannot keep it to myself!
We live free and forgiven, until our natural death here on earth. Then, He promises us a place in heaven with Him.
Believing in God leads to receiving His Son Jesus which then leads to the Holy Spirit living in you.
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to help you and be with you forever (John 14:16).
As believers, we love God first. One of the most challenging things, even for people who have believed a long time, is to keep God first in their lives. But it is essential for our faith to continue to grow.
Jesus tells us what shall be most important in our lives:
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, “Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:36-40).
In these times of this plague, spreading fast and killing many, I want you to know where your soul is headed after you die.
If Jesus is the only way to the Father, then we better love Him with everything. Loving Jesus means learning His ways and following Him.
His way is life. Jesus or Our Father God will never steer you wrong. The Holy Bible is God-breathed truth for all of us on this journey.
The time is now. Today, make a commitment to knowing Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
And don’t let the Bible or following Him overwhelm you.
He created you! He knows exactly where your heart and mind are this given day.
Jesus promises never to leave us:
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:20).
Jesus dying for us was the most amazing act of love.
When you believe that, your life will change for the better.
When you begin to read the Bible (pick one of the Gospels mentioned earlier), each time … before you read … pray and ask God to show you what He wants you to learn.
Over time, you will become more kind, more loving, more giving … because of what He has done for you.
You might say, “Julie, I am already pretty giving, and I love my peeps.”.
Then I look forward to seeing is how the holy power of God works in you as you learn more about Him!
God would never take away something good in you, because He placed it there.
He does want to take away your sin, your shame, your loneliness, your despair … and replace all those things with living hope that changes you to reflect the goodness of Him.
For God so loved the world, He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
Everyone sins. We were born that way. But the more we love Him, the more we want to please Him with our words, our actions and the conditions of our hearts.
Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Yet You desired faithfulness even in the womb; You taught me wisdom in that secret place (Psalm 51:5-6).
No matter how you grew up ~
No matter how you have messed up~
No matter how much you thought you didn’t need God~
No matter how long it has been since you prayed to God~
This day and this hour, He is calling you back to His arms, into His healing hands which formed you in your mother’s womb.
Never underestimate the life-saving and life-changing power of God.
Let me know what you decide.
How wonderful a Savior is He!
If you are here and love Jesus, join me in His praise but also share this post so that more of those unaware of His grace and truth may read.
If you are here and learning about Jesus for the first time, I am full of joy and thanking Jesus for bringing you! Is there anyone in your life you could share this post with? All we can do is invite others to His truth. It is between God and that person what happens next. However, I will say, when you are new at following Jesus, you may have lots of questions. It is a good idea to connect with a few others who can be trusted to give steer you to His truth.
If anyone has questions about faith in Jesus or needs specific prayer, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
