Covid 19 has a way of multiplying … thoughts, worries, fears, and the virus itself.
Since then you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God (Colossians 3:1).
As I waited for test results, there were at least a few times when I began a mental list of all the people I would need to inform if I was positive.
A daunting task and a rather high number.
Though I haven’t been “doing” life as usual, there were still ALOT of people I was around:
grocery store clerk, around 10 patrons
spoke at a church where about 25 people attended service
small gathering of 3 sisters at her home
got a hair cut, was the only client but the stylist
Now take each of these 40 people and multiply by 3. Now we are at 120 people with the possibility of more given each of their circles of people.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things (Colossians 3:2).
Our Lord did not let me stay in this crazy thought train. He gently lifted my eyes to Him.
I sensed He trusted me to do the right thing if I was positive and inform.
On a walk after knowing I was negative, God spoke:
Multiply the gospel. How quickly My Good News will travel if …
In His sovereignty, God has allowed Covid. However, He still does not want us to focus on it. It must pain Him to see those whom He loves working diligently to trace back their steps and make sure all persons who need to know, do.
Don’t all people, regardless of race, age, job, family, need to know Christ?
Only believers know Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life.
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory (Colossians 3:3-4).
We who believe behold the gift of new life, protected in the hands of Our Savior who is in the righteous right hand of Our Father.
God wants you to remember it is not your job to make others believe in Him.
Some hearts are closed and will not hear the message:
While others are open to hearing and also still listening to the father of lies. The News may not take root:
Yet, if we commit to sharing the gospel as efficiently as we would commit to sharing positive Covid results … surely God will draw the ones He has prepared for faith:
God is stirring my soul for evangelism. I am unsure of what His plans are. I just know I sense His leading.
I almost weep when I think of adults who don’t know the love of Christ.
My heart knows what children go through in dysfunctional, unhealthy homes where Jesus name is used as a swear.
And prodigals. I trust the Lord to pursue them, but I hear the pain in parents’/spouses’ requests for prayer.
May God fan the flame and awaken our hearts to speaking His truth to many, sharing the invitation Jesus gave on the cross to even the criminal.
May we open our eyes to marvel at how quickly faith can spread.
May we release the grip on this gift of new life as we trust God Our Father to break down walls of unbelief, draw the hurting, the doubters, the proud to His feet.
We are prisoners no more. We are free to follow Christ no matter where He takes us.
New life means new things.
Some of us have told ourselves our whole lives we were not gifted to share the gospel like preachers and teachers and spirited young youth leaders.
Out with the old and in with the new.
Old wine cannot fit in new wine skins, says Jesus.
Yes, we are all a work in His hands. I will keep you posted about how God leads me.
If you have recently led someone to Christ, please share!
