I was blessed to walk with a sister in Christ yesterday morning. We prayed on the street corner before parting. I asked the Lord to wake His sleepers. Miss Carolyn spoke into my heart’s cry about stagnant Christians, summoning heaven, we need a fresh wind.
Yes, Lord! A fresh wind.
Bring me back from gray exile, put a fresh wind in my sails! Give me a job teaching rebels You ways so that the lost can find their way home. Commute my death sentence, God, my salvation God, and I’ll sing anthems to Your life-giving ways. Unbutton my lips, dear God; I’ll let loose with Your praise. Going through the motions doesn’t please You, a flawless performance is nothing to You (Psalm 51:12-16 MSG).
Later in the afternoon, after dropping Jackson off at PT, I checked my email. I received a same-day response from a worship leader who has a full time business of setting up tech stuff. I had reached out to him to serve at God’s coming Revival August 2021.
Meanwhile, our 80 degree temps in PA begged for fresh.
After I read the email (I need to pray before responding), I looked up and thanked God for sending this person.
His Son, hazed over. Not in a lazy way, rather heaven’s intentional Way. The sky always speaks of God. It is just whether or not we recognize Him in it.
Think of a hot, hazy day at the beach when the sand singes the pale of your feet and the iced tea is lukewarm to drink even though it was packed in a shaded cooler.
His people who would rather serve themselves than Him may as well be the barnacles on the side of the pier, hidden from His kingdom come.
God’s haze this day, when He knew I would write this blog, may be a living image of His people who need to be wrestled awake. Like the Israelites, current-day Christians who profess they will follow Jesus with their mouth but their hearts refuse … complain about His gifts and turn their backs, not around in 360 degrees, rather they just lay down flat upon their backs, too cocooned to move for the good of the lost, the broken, the chained by the enemy.
Though I know zero details, Spirit has given me peace about this email. I don’t know what to expect, but I sense His hand at work. This email was a wake-up call to this slightly worried Elijah, that there are others with heart for His Revival, not Julie’s Revival, God’s.
Lord, wake up the sleepers
Confirmation arrived as I continued to study His Sky.
A wind came upon the muggy parking lot, outside of the PT building. And the wind did not just move the heavy air around, there was a freshness, a coolness, a humble might behind and in and through it.
Yes, Lord, pour out Your Spirit. Your breath is the wind. Your life-giving freshness wiggles Your trees, makes us stop and lift our noses just like puppies. Nobody worries about their hair on a hot day, so may Your wind tousle our locks, for which You know the exact number. May the slumbering awake, eyes popped open, both ears attuned to Your voice empowered by Your one and Only Holy Spirit.
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of the vengeance of our God to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion – bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor (Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV).
Do you believe you are anointed by the Lord for His good works? Have you surrendered ALL to Jesus? Most of us have areas where we hold back, kinda say, Lord, yes to this but not this. I cannot speak for God, but I know from experience if I am focused on what Julie needs, I cannot hear His Sovereign voice.
Let us trust He knows our every need, before even we do, and follow Him above everything else. Ask Him to speak to you about where or whom He prepared you to serve.
For God does not have plans for every one of us to serve at Revival. But if you have felt a nudge, don’t ignore it and don’t act on it until you have prayed and listened some more.
I am here to help you know more about Jesus and more about Revival.
In His love and for His glory,
P.S. All photos in this post are mine 🙂
